Perkins has been producing diesel engines since 1932. Diesel engines before Perkins were slow and heavy "workhorse" engines. In terms of performance, diesel engine were no match for petrol engines and were not seen as viable primary motive power. When Perkins released their first high speed diesel engine, there was finally a challenge to the petrol power plant. Perkins was sold to Massey-Ferguson in 1959 and continued to refine and expand their diesel range. With the acquisition of Rolls-Royce Diesels in the 1980's, the Perkins brand gained further technologies and expertise to pass onto its customers. Perkins is now owned by Caterpillar and continues to expand into new markets across the world. The marine division of Perkins in partnership with Sabre combine over 75 years worth of diesel knowledge. This depth of knowledge and expertise has lead to the production of the most reliable and customer centred engine designs in the marine market. Perkins has become a first choice option for powerboats, yachts, fishermen and pilot boats. The build quality and reliability of Perkins engines means that many vessels are still using engines that are 20+ years old. With regular checks and maintenance, a Perkins engine can be relied on for loyal service. LKQ Aquafax holds stock of popular spares for the 3152, 4107 / 4108, M35 and Prima engines among others.
